IIM A young alumni achiever’s award 2017 in Social Service / Public Service has been confirmed on Kartikeya Misra and Rohan chand Thakur.
IIM A announced third edition of Young Alumni Achiever’s Award to be given on June 22nd, 2017 during induction of the incoming batch at IIM Ahmedabad.
The award is to be given in the three categories viz.
- Corporate Leader
- Entrepreneurship
- Social Service/ Public Service/ Academics/ Literature/ Performing arts/ Politics/ Sports
In Social Service/ Public Service/ Academics/ Literature/ Performing arts/ Politics/ Sports award is given to
- Kartikeya Misra – Director Industries, VC&MD APIDC & CEO AP Invest Government of Andhra Pradesh
- Rohan Chand Thakur -Deputy Commissioner, Shimla Himachal Pradesh
Kartikeya Misra – Young Alumni Achiever’s
Kartikeya Misra was selected into Indian Administrative Services in 2008 with AIR 40. He topped the training at Mussoorie–emerging as the All India Rank 2 post-training, and joined the Andhra Pradesh cadre.In his first posting in a heavily Naxal infested area on the Andhra-Orissa border as a Sub-Collector, he pioneered a food security project along with Mr. Jairam Ramesh which has been replicated all over AP. His second posting was as Sub-Collector,Bodhan on Andhra-Maharashtra border where he was tasked with curbing rampant illegal sand mining, in this highly communally sensitive area.Subsequently, he served as CMD of an 8,000 Cr Power distribution company – during his stint annual revenues went up from 1,800 Cr to 3,400 Cr in 2 years. He also served as the Joint MD of Transmission Corporation.
Post the Andhra-Telangana bifurcation, he has been working closely with Andhra Pradesh CM Shri Chandrababu Naidu to build the new AP as an economically independent and industrial state. He leads multiple important roles in the current Andhra Pradesh government, serving as the Director Industries, CEO AP Invest, and CMD AP Industrial Development Corporation –and has authored 6 sector-specific policies and umbrella industrial policy of AP for 2015-20. He has been focusing on grounding manufacturing units in AP and improving ease of doing business. Mr. Misra has been instrumental in creating more than 35,000 new direct jobs in last fiscal in the large category.Previously he worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs in New York and Mumbai.
Mr. Misra graduated from the PGP program at IIM Ahmedabad in 2004, and has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from BITS Pilani.
Rohan Chand Thakur – Young Alumni Achiever’s
Rohan Chand Thakur conceptualized and implemented Pehal, an umbrella scheme covering the Prerna program for primary education, education on forest rights, health and sanitation, campaign against drugs and livelihood opportunities for women. This was implemented at a state- level in Himachal Pradesh. Shimla has become an Open Defecation Free (ODF) district under his stewardship, making it one of the first such districts in the country. He implemented the Hot Dak Tracking software for greater efficiency and accountability in office working, which was adjudged among the Top 100 E-Governance Initiatives in the country in 2015, and for which he was awarded the SKOCH Order of Merit. As Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, he implemented the LPG-DBT scheme taking the coverage from 1% to 70%, the highest in the state. Previously he worked with the Tata Administrative Services.
Mr. Thakur graduated from the PGP program at IIM Ahmedabad in Earlier, he studied at St. Stephen’s College, Mumbai University.
