IIM A announced third edition of IIMA Young Alumni Achiever’s Award to be given on June 22nd, 2017 during induction of the incoming batch at IIM Ahmedabad.
The award is to be given in the three categories viz.
- Corporate Leader
- Entrepreneurship
- Social Service/ Public Service/ Academics/ Literature/ Performing arts/ Politics/ Sports
In corporate leadership award is given to
- Rahul agarwal – MD & CEO, Lenovo India
- Sudhir Sitapati – Executive Director & CCVP Refreshments, South Asia, Hindustan Unilever Limited
- Tulsi Naidu – CEO, Zurich Insurance Company
Rahul Agarwal – IIMA Young Alumni Avhiever
Mr. Rahul Agarwal is the MD & CEO of Lenovo India, a business with sales of more than US $2 Billion that spans smartphones, laptops, tablets and PCs. Under his leadership, Lenovo grew more than 90% in FY16.
He has been with Lenovo, and its predecessor the IBM PC division, for the past 15 years. When Lenovo acquired the IBM PC Division in 2005, Mr. Agarwal was instrumental in launching the Lenovo brand in India, as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for the company. The success of this initiative resulted in him being nominated to launch the consumer PC business across the Asia Pacific in 2006. In 2007,
Mr. Agarwal was elevated to the role of Executive Director, Global Marketing Communication.
For the next 3 years, he built and led the ‘Lenovo Global Marketing Hub’ that created and rolled out global marketing campaigns as well as localized work for 60+ countries.
In 2010 he was promoted to Executive Director, Commercial Business for South Asia. He led the US $500 Million Commercial business for Lenovo South Asia for the next five years. He held P&L responsibility for clients across the Enterprise, Global, Education and Government verticals. In this role ,he managed channel partners and a direct sales force across South Asia. Mr. Agarwal graduated from the PGP program at IIM Ahmedabad in 1996, and is a Bachelor of Business Studies from Delhi University.
Sudhir Sitapati – IIMA Young Alumni Avhiever
Mr. Sudhir Sitapati joined HUL as a Management Trainee in 1999.
He has since worked in 5 categories —soaps, detergents, tea, coffee and ice cream across India, Europe, South East Asia and Africa. He has done stints in sales, marketing and in general management. In July 2016, he moved to the management committee as Executive Director, Refreshments. He has over the years worked closely on some internationally acclaimed and awarded marketing campaigns such as Dirt is Good, Lifebuoy Roti at Kumbh, and Brooke Bond ‘Taste of Togetherness’. All these campaigns have won gold/grand prix Effies and Cannes Lions.
Mr. Sitapati was on the advisory board of Flipkart, India’s largest e-commerce company. He was recently named in the Economic Times 40 Under Forty list as one of the 40 most impactful young business leaders. He has worked closely with the internal alumni council setup by Mr.Vindi Banga in 2007, and also teaches periodically at IIMA.
Mr. Sitapati graduated from the PGP program at IIM Ahmedabad in 1999. Earlier, he studied at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai University where he was on the university merit list. He writes, on a variety of subjects, in national newspapers. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, the sitar and farming.
Tulsi Naidu – IIMA Young Alumni Avhiever
Ms. Tulsi Naidu is the Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Insurance Company in the UK ,a diversified top 5 UK insurer with Life and P&C businesses and one of Zurich Group’s top 5 markets globally. Earlier, she worked with the UK subsidiary of the Prudential Group as Operations Director / COO and then as the Executive Director responsible for the UK & Offshore business. She was responsible for strategy, public affairs and commercial leadership for one of the Largest UK insurance businesses during a period of immense change for the industry, holding line management responsibility for Ireland and Poland. She implemented a significant transformation over a two year period resulting in a diversified product portfolio, increased market share, reduced capital consumption and significant improvements in customer and adviser satisfaction.
She has been involved with Pratham, an NGO focused on primary education that was named amongst the 3 most innovative development projects in the world. She helped the founding group develop a 3 -year strategy and establish the UK fund raising base.
Ms Naidu graduated from the PGP program at IIM Ahmedabad in 1996.
