IIM Ahmedabad has announced young alumni achiever’s award 2018. This is fourth edition and award will be given on 26th June 2018 during induction of new batch 2018-20 class. Alumni cell has taken this initiate to recognize young leaders who has made an impact and inspired others.
For the year 2017-18, award shall be given in 4 categories

Academics
Art and Entertainment
In corporate leadership award shall be given to Anuradha Chug, Prakash Jhanwer and Utsav baijal. In Entrepreneurship awardees are Kuldeep jain and Manish Gupta. In academics it has been won by Ashwani Monga and in ‘Art and entertainment category’ it is Chetan Bhagat.
Young Alumni Achiever’s Award – Anuradha Chugh – Corporate leadership award
has won corporate leadership award for young alumni. she is currently managing director of Ben & Jerry’s London Responsible for the end to end business of Ben & Jerry’s in Europe. B&J is a separate business within the Unilever fold with its own independent Board and Directors, P&L and organizational structure.
Anuradha chugh has 20 years experience in leading diverse business and brands. She has led the change agenda for the Unilever’s flagship brands like Dove, Lipton and Ben & Jerry. Her specialties includes
End to End Business management, Brand Equity and Business Strategy, Leading Global
Advertising and Communication, Leading Global Innovations, Consumer Insights and Market Research.
Prakash Jhanwer – Corporate leadership award
He is Regional Head of South East Asia and China region at Olam International, the leading agri-business operating from seed to shelf in 70 countries, supplying food and industrial raw materials to over 16,200 customers worldwide. Listed on Singapore Stock exchange,
Olam is ranked amongst the top 10 agri commodity companies globally.
Currently he is working with Olam and based in Singapore. he looks for eight countries business operations including China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, East Timor, PNG and Laos.The overall turnover of the Region is about US$1.8 billion.
Utsav baijal has worked with BAIN CAPITAL, LLC (Boston, USA as Associate, 2005-2007) and MCKINSEY & CO. (New Delhi, India/Hong Kong, China as Engagement Manager, 2000-2005) and currently associated with APOLLO MANAGEMENT/AION CAPITAL New York, USA/Mumbai, India Partner. And in current assignment he is
Part of Apollo’s New York office; member of team which executed the +$6 billion acquisition of bank and bridge loans from banks. Responsible for performing due diligence and valuation analysis for credit and PE investments.
Original founding member of the India office for Apollo. Helped establish Apollo’s operations in India; working across Private Equity and Credit businesses. Additional responsibility of developing our business in South East Asia.
Worked extensively in conceptualizing the joint venture with ICICI Bank for the creation of a special situations fund for India (AION Capital). AION is the single largest private equity fund raised in India, totaling $825 million and is the largest dedicated India fund raised by any of the large bulge bracket private equity funds.
Kuldeep jain – Entrepreneurship Award
Kuldeep Jain, an Alumni of PGP 1999 started his professional stint with McKinsey and Company where he worked across multiple offices including Singapore, Hong Kong, London and Zurich.
He started Cleanmax Solar started in January 2011 with mission being “sustainability partner to large corporates”. Cleanmax pursued the corporate (private PPA) segment due to its belief that in the longer run corporate sector has a larger role than government in fighting climate change as many of them adopt ambitious renewables targets such as 100% renewables consumption in comparison to the government’s targets of say 8 –
10% renewables. Cleanmax is the No. 1 rooftop solar developer in India with market
share of ~25%. Over time, Cleanmax has expanded product range to include grid connected solar farms (serving IT companies in Bangalore and Chennai), with its rooftop portfolio across 16 states and has now started operations in UAE (Dubai) and Thai
land as well. It is 170+ people strong, though project labour workforce at its various sites (for construction and O&M) exceed 1500 as of Mid Feb, 2018.
Manish Gupta – Entrepreneurship Award
Manish as founder and CEO, Indegene has spearheaded growth of Indegene from a pure Indian start-up to a globally respected healthcare solutions organization.
It is one of the successful global healthcare solutions companies built out of India over the last two decades. Under Manish’s leadership and entrepreneurialism, Indegene has not only established an unique and differentiated business model and a value proposition that is driving commercial and medical transformation in global healthcare, it has also set new global standards and benchmarks for world class excellence in HR processes, operations, IP development and innovation, all of which have been recognized by peer groups and industry stakeholders.
Ashwani Monga – Academic Award
Ashwani monga started his professional journey with Smithkline Beecham after graduating from IIMA in 1997. He switched to academics in 1999,teaching and conducting research in Marketing as part of his Ph.D. program at the University of Minnesota. He is now a tenured Professor of Marketing at Rutgers Business School, Newark and New Brunswick. He served three years as the Chair of the Marketing Department, and is currently the Vice Dean for Academic Programs and Innovations.
Ashwani leads the strategic development and planning of academic programs for more than 9,000 students across the three RBS Schools: Newark Undergraduate, New Brunswick Undergraduate, and the Graduate School (which includes the MBA and several specialty Master’s programs).
Last but not Least Chetan Bhagat – in Art and Entertainment
Chetan Bhagat is the author of nine blockbuster books. These include seven novels –
Five Point Someone(2004), One Night @ the Call Center (2005), The 3 Mistakes of My Life (2008), 2 States (2009), Revolution 2020 (2011), Half Girlfriend (2014) and One Indian Girl (2016) and two non-fiction titles -What Young India Wants (2012) and Making India Awesome (2015).
Chetan’s books have remained bestsellers since their release. Four out his five novels have been already adapted into successful Bollywood films and the others are in process of being adapted as well. The New York Times called him the ‘the biggest selling English language novelist in India’s history’. Time magazine named him amongst the ‘100 most influential people in the world’ and Fast Company, USA, listed him as one of the world’s ‘100 most creative people in business’.
