Year 2017 has been very active on front of new launches and has many contender for making it to top 10 smartphones. It has witnessed emergence of new brands and while old guards struggled to keep their flags high. In India it was ferocious fight among Vivo, Oppo, Gionee, Apple, Samsung, Lava and Xiaomi.
Initial lead was taken by Vivo and Oppo however their Chinese mindset laid back and at the end of year they were struggling for survival. Gionee has a decent start but couldn’t keep momentum going on for long and was off track soon.
This year has been extremely good for Samsung for price range above 50k. Samsung S8 and S8 plus launched in may was instant hit and surpassed expectations set by management. S8 was bezel less beauty and every brand has to follow standard set by Samsung S8. it was further strengthen with launch of Note 8.
Apple was bullish on iPhone 8, however as it was 10th anniversary it also introduced iPhone X. Apple’s iPhone 8 was a disaster. It didn’t found any taker and retailer were left in lurch. However they got a breather with iPhone X, which was introduced in limted quantity. Slowest sell of iPhone new product resulted in exit of India’s country head Mr. Sanjay kaul who was replaced by a french.
Xiaomi has been clear winner of rat race for smart phones in India. Xiaomi in leadership of Manu jain has grown many folds and rest of smart phone maker were found shivering courtesy Xiaomi smartphones.

iPhone X : iPhone X is 5.8 inch screen size phone. It came in two colors Space grey and Silver. Its storage capacity is 64 GB and 256 GB. 64 GB cost is Rs. 89,000 and 256 GB variant cost is Rs.1,02,000 in India. It was launched in limited quantity and there was gap in demand and supply.

Google Pixel 2 : Google launched Pixel 2 on 4th October in India. It was first phone to be equipped with latest android version Oreo. However it was taken by selected few.
One plus 5 : One plus 5 has been talk of town for a while. It came in 5.5 inch screen mode. Dual camera technology will allow focus on object , blurring background for powerful effect. 8GB RAM is another milestone set by onePlus 5.

Xiaomi in last 2 quarters has registered unprecedented growth. Though Xiaomi is VFM (Value for money handsets) brand under 15k price segment. It has taken calculated risk and ventured in 30-40k price segment.
Samsung Note 8 : Samsung has announced Note 8, its flagship model. Note 8 is 6.3 inch display screen phone. It came with 6 GB RAM and three variants of 64 GB/128 GB/256 GB. Pricing will vary as per internal memory from 64GB Rs. 69,999 128 GB Rs.79,999 and 256 GB Rs.89,999 in India.
iPhone 8 : Apple launches 3 models iPhone 8, 8 plus and iPhone X. iPhone 8 shall be first to come in India in Sep itself. iPhone 8 price shall be Rs. 64,000 and 77, 000 as per memory of 64 GB and 256 GB.

Redmi 5A is cheapest and value for money for with features it comes. It comes with 5 inch display and 13 MP rear camera with PDAF. Redmi has sacrificed battery and comes with 3000 mAh. It is powered with snapdragon processor 425. OS in Redmi 5A is MIUI 9 based on android.
Lava z60 : Lava Z60 put indian challenge in smart phone. It was under 10k price range phone. Lava launch Z60 smartphone in India. lava z60 comes in 5 inch screen size. Lava Z60 has 5MP Selfie and rear camera. It is equipped with fingerprint sensor. Lava Z60 comes with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM. Lava Z60 consumer price in India is Rs. 5,499.
