Essar has shut down its national chain of telecom retail outlets ‘The Mobile Store’. The Mobile store was one stop for all mobile solutions.  It was national chain present in 48 cities. Its retail count reached to 2000 at certain point. Currently, P Krishna Kumar is CEO of the Mobile Store. It looks nothing is going well with Essar businesses.

The mobile store was biggest telecom retail in India. insurgent of e-commerce business rang bell for brick n mortar stores. The mobile store did achieve break even point in its tenure. However since 2012, it was booking heavy losses.

Company cut down loss making stores on regular basis. however it didn’t help. Company hired seasonal professional like Mr. Alok Gupta to give new direction to company. In super vision of Alok Gupta and to counter online portal, The Mobile Store launched FED. With Fastest Expert Delivery (FED), The Mobile Store ensured the phone is delivered along with all the value added services within two hours, satisfying the need of today’s customers – the need of not waiting anymore.

The mobile store revenue fallen drastically in 2014-15 and never came to its earlier level. in 2016, it hired P Krishna Kumar (Ex CEO Hotspot Retails) as last resort. However even Krishna kumar couldn’t do much to its rescue.

Company has given pink slip to most of its employee. Company has shut down its retail stores completely.

Handset stock with company is being sold online. Company is selling it through online portal. It has listed 29 model online. Models left with The mobile store includes, Aqua Lions 4G, Intex Aqua A4, Intex cloud style 4G, karbonn K9, Karbonn mashaal, Lava A77, Lava A97 2 GB, lava Arc One+, Nokia 3, J7 Max, J7 prime, Z2, Lava Spar i7, Gionee a1, Gionee F103 pro, Gionee P5l, Gionee p7 Max, Karbonn k451, Karbonn K9 Viraat, Nokia 105, Samsung J1 4 G, Vivo v5s, Vivo Y53, Vivo Y55s and Vivo Y66.

Essar has decided to shut down all its telecom stores. it didn’t procure handsets launch in Aug and Sep say Vivo V7 plus, Y69, iPhone 8, Note 8 and Jio smart feature phone.

PM Narendra Modi need to rethink for ‘make in India’ and ‘Start up India’. New ventures are not setting up and existing one like Jumbo electronics, Tata tele sercives and The mobile stores are shutting down.
