Indian Mobile handset industry is stagnant, and growth is limited almost to nil. Major brands Samsung, Micromax, Intex, Vivo, Gionee, Oppo, Karbonn, Celkon, Intex, Nokia and Lava are fighting for that big fat pie.
It was heartening to see that post Diwali or to be precise Nov 15, once again in June 2016 it touched 10 Millions mark.
Market size of Indian handset industry in calendar year 2016 has been swinging INR 50 to 54 Billion. However growth was in absolute nos. only and not in value. It touched Rs. 54 billion in june. So Mobile handset industry size was 54 Billion rupees in June 2016. Here it is interesting to note that June 2016 growth over May 2016 is only 1%. However it was almost 4% higher than that of Jun 2015.
It should also be noted that, though volume has increased to 10 million handset in a month but as revenue is not increased in same magnitude, so ASP (Average Selling Price) has been registered lowest in calendar year 2016 for the month of June at INR 5400 in India.
