Carrefour so far has been in wait and watch mode in India. It has opened only one store in India in seelampur in east Delhi. It has taken a social initiative by offering MCD school in its vicinity.
It has been talking for opening four new cash n carry store in India. However location they are not ready to to tell. It has been known from reliable resources that it will be in metro or tier 1 city preferably pune, nagpur.
carrefour has world wide 151 cash and carry store. Highest of them are in France 137 and Asia has one i.e in India east Delhi Seelampur.
It is interesting to note that its arch rival Wal-mart is very aggressive on expansion plan while at same time carrefour is following policy ‘Go Slow – work in progress’
